Press Release: Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association Congratulates Jacqueline Romero on her Historic Nomination as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania
Philadelphia, PA – June 15, 2022: Today, the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association, the professional organization in Philadelphia providing a community for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) legal community in the greater Philadelphia region, congratulates former Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association Board Member Jacqueline Romero on her historic confirmation as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Romero, an experienced civil litigator with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, has a deep history of supporting her communities in and around Philadelphia, providing mentorship to junior attorneys and law students, and bringing rich experience and wisdom to the table. In addition to her recent board membership on the Board of Directors for the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association since 2019, Romero served with distinction as the President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania.
Most recently, Romero served as the co-chair of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association’s Education Committee where she was principally responsible for organizing continuing legal education courses for lawyers, judges, and law students. “Jacqueline Romero was a great partner and truly appreciated mentor,” said Kevin Levy, Romero’s co-chair. “Through Jacqueline’s leadership, the Education Committee provided and organized timely, important, and engaging courses. Her management and quick thinking proved especially vital as we transitioned our programming to be entirely virtual during the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Stephen Kulp, the chair of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association, stated, “Jackie has been a great friend, a mentor, and a trusted board member of our organization. Her voice carries a certain weight at the table, and her decisiveness and strength have been a huge benefit to the LGBTQ legal community of Philadelphia.” Stephen continued, “We are very excited for this next adventure for Jackie to lead the United States Attorney’s Office here in Philadelphia where she will continue her storied record of promoting and protecting civil rights throughout the Eastern District.”
